Things At Home That Are Secretly Spoiling Your Married

Home is where the heart is. Especially after a long day at work and after the baby sleeps, all you want to do is spend some quality time at home with your partner. But what if your home turns into a major mood killer that could actually hamper your married life? There are certain things at home that escape our notice but can be seriously putting off. It’s time to learn what it takes to bring love home – loads of it!

Take a look around you and see if you have any of these things that are complete mood killers for that romantic evening. Start fixing these silent enemies of your married life to enjoy that quality time with your partner again!

1. The Third Person In Your Bedroom

You must have heard this advice several times, but have probably ignored it. Moms, it is true: unplugging your television from your bedroom is a great idea! It definitely is the third person in your bedroom and you do not need that, do you? Your bedroom is the place where you can relax, unwind and have a physical as well as emotional connect with your husband.

How to fix this: If you have an existing television set in your bedroom, shift it to your drawing room. Striking a conversation about world affairs while watching the news need not really take place in your bedroom.

2. Clear The Crazy Clutter

This one is no surprise: a cluttered house is not the most pleasant thing to come to after a long day at work! If you or your husband are working individuals, you already are stressed owing to your workload the entire day. You wish to come to a house that gives you space to relax and unwind and not add to your workload. Apart from not letting you enjoy your space, a cluttered house is also a major mood killer.

How to fix this: Start fixing the clutter in the house. All those piles of clothes lying on the couch, those unpaid bills spread across your study table – they all need to be cleared completely. The clutter is an absolute distraction that does not allow you to communicate and relax with your partner. Also, a cluttered bed isn’t the ideal place you’d want to cuddle in!

3. Bringing Your Office Home

As cliched as it sounds, it is definitely true. Work should never (repeat, never!) be brought home. Office is office for a reason and so is home. Work should never come in the way of spending time, interacting and communicating with your spouse. Home is an intimate space that should never be contaminated with completing pending tasks to meet deadlines.

How to fix this: The golden rule is to leave work at work. If you have urgent work commitments that cannot wait till the next day, communicate with your husband and urge him to do the same. Give each other a timeline post which no work talk should be allowed!

4. Ugly Tech Tools

Your mobiles, iPods and kindles are a great distraction after a hard day of completing the daily routine with your baby, or an overwhelming day at work. However, you must understand that you do not need their presence when you go to your bedroom. Remember, it’s a personal space that’s meant to be shared with your partner, not serve as a techie arena. This means you have to ditch gadgetry, including tablets and laptops. The distraction caused by constant pinging sounds is very harmful to your love life and is best avoided at all costs in the bedroom.

How to fix this: Remember to turn your phone off once you get in bed with your partner. Communicate with him instead of checking work messages. Also, try and avoid using any gadgets before going to sleep. This is better for your health too!

5. Old Memories and Gifts

What’s the problem with this? Well, nothing much – as long as and gifts from times best not brought up! We sometimes miss out on these little nooks and corners of our home which still have painful reminders of the past, memoirs of a bad experience, or, even gifts from yesteryear lovers! So, as much as you want to retain that pendant from a former flame, it has to go. Keeping such objects in your bedroom or wearing them only invites memories of the past, not doing much for your current relationship.

How to fix this: Instead of creating an emotional rut, toss out these mementos. It’s time to understand that the past is the past and shouldn’t be dredged up. Instead, it’s better to display gifts given by your hubby to let him know you value them a lot. Seems like a little thing, but trust us, he will love the gesture.

So, these were some common obstacles creep up in the way of connecting with your husband at home. Remember, it’s only you and your husband who can at home!
